We're Part Of Something Bigger

Founded by riders, for everyone.

Helping people live the ultimate mountain experience in japan for 20 years!

Back in 2005 when Rhythm Japan first set up shop in Niseko, the goal was simple: create a store that provides visitors with everything they need to enjoy Japan’s unique snow conditions, and ride as much pow as possible.

20 years down the track, not much has changed. Rhythm's founder, Matt Hampton, still rips the slopes any chance he gets, and Rhythm still operates under the same purpose. The big differences? We are no longer operating out of the same renovated toilet block in Lower Hirafu that we were back in 2005, and we are now part of something bigger – having partnered with our family across the pond at evo.

Together, we work to provide global access to a unique suite of experiences focused on sport, culture and the outdoors.

But Rhythm x evo are more than an outdoor sports store or website...

We give back, we share our passion, we take care of our planet, we connect humans to experiences that connect them with nature… We are Part Of Something Bigger.

WHY WE DO IT

At the core of both of Rhythm and evo, are two Riders that created their businesses to share their passion for the mountains with everyone. Little did they know, they were both simultaneously creating something bigger than they could have dreamed possible more than 20 years ago…

Today, we don't only take care of thousands of customers every season. We also provide incredible employment opportunities for over 1,500 humans across the globe, both seasonally and annually, allowing them to come and spend a season living and riding in world-class resorts across Japan, Canada and the U.S.

Beyond that, we also invest back into our local communities though year-round events, and a winter scholarship program run by our Rides Futures Camp, where we offer local kids the opportunity to learn and progress through our 12 weeks program, full sponsored and paid for by Rhythm Japan.

Futures

A pathway for local Niseko kids to develop their skiing and riding skills from a young age, enabling them to fully enjoy the incredible winter terrain in our area while also making friends.

Yukimi Film Fest

A showcase of art, creativity, and good vibes, all within the heart of Hakuba, Yukimi stands out as an unforgettable celebration of ‘the Hakuba experience’, showcased through the lens of our local creatives.

Rhythm Rail Jam

4,000 punters, 50 of Japan’s mountain resort's best riders, some of the region's best food trucks and entertainers – there's a reason the Rhythm Rail Jam stands out as THE highlight event on Niseko's winter calendar.

Local Orphanage Programs

Here at Rhythm Japan, we feel like your situation shouldn't dictate if you're a skiier or snowboarder. Which is why, annually, Rhythm Japan hosts clothing drives, ride days and specialised on-snow tutorage for local orphanages. Allowing local youth, regardless of their background and upbringing, the opportunity to get out on-snow and enjoy what makes our local region so famous all around the world.

Summer Hirafu Festival

Spanning four different locations across Niseko's Grand Hirafu, the Hirafu Block Party is a full town fiesta that you won’t want to miss. Whether you're eager to explore Grand Hirafu and Twin Peaks’ new trails, relax in the sunshine at Hirafu’s vibrant green park, or partake in action-packed activities at Rhythm Hirafu, you’ll undoubtedly find something for you at the Hirafu Block Party.

Volunteer Work

Every year, Rhythm is committed to contributing a total of 1,000 volunteer hours to the communities that we live in and enjoy.

WHAT WE WANT FOR OUR FUTURE

To see you again next year – hopefully after you've caught the same Japow bug we all did 20 years ago! As we continue to grow, Rhythm plans to stay the same as we always have. We remain committed to spreading the stoke, fostering a love for the outdoors, and making Japan’s world-class mountains accessible and enjoyable for all.

OUR CULTURE

Our team is more than just a group of friendly experts on shift—we’re a crew of passionate adventurers who live for the mountains. Off the clock, we go full send, embracing everything Japan has to offer, from backcountry missions and resort laps to summer hikes and surf sessions. This culture of adventure, camaraderie, and passion translates directly into how we serve our customers.
