Winter 25/26 Staff Gear Picks: Pow Fits For Getting Deep In Hakuba

We’re in the thick of it now. Peak season is in full swing, the snow almost hasn’t stopped falling for a month now and Hakuba is yet again on track for another season for the history books. So what better time than to line up another edition of Staff Gear Picks, this time highlighting all the products that we feel may help you out while venturing out into the deep pow – and we knew exactly who to go to. 

Of course, it’s Nabe! If you’ve ever visited any of our Rhythm stores in Hakuba, you have undoubtedly come across Nabe. Seriously, at this stage, we are pretty shocked that Hakuba’s town slogan isn’t: “Nabe lives here.”

Having lived in town for 20 years now (12 of which he’s been with Rhythm Japan) there’s no one better to give their take on the gear that’ll best serve you in Hakuba’s unique conditions, than Nabe. "It's classic pow style board. Wide/ ong nose and swallow tail shape helps float easily on deep pow. But it's also directional camber. We can enjoy the curving on groomers. You can enjoy off-piste and on course in this one board."

Nabe's Take:

"The ak model was developed for use in Alaska's harsh environment, offering superior waterproofing, breathability, mobility and durability. I ride for over 100 days each season,  and this is the model I have trusted and used for over 15 years."

"The M-Fusion magnetic latch system developed by ‘anon’ allows lenses to be easily attached and detached to suit varying weather conditions. Depending on how well they complement my eye colour, I head to the mountains on deep powder days wearing the low-light Perceive Cloudy Pink lenses. I particularly favour them for delivering clear, high-contrast vision whilst riding."
