Tips From The Team: From 0 To 360° In No Time
It’s park season, baby!
Time to swap out the goggles for some sunnies, trade heavy jackets for some lightweight shells or hoodies, pack a couple of cheeky chu-hais and head out for some spring park laps with the homies.
Keen to get out there but don’t actually have all that much experience in the park? Let’s start with the basics: stomping your first 180’s and then boosting it up to a 360.
So for this edition of Tips From The Team, we caught up with Rhythm Rides’ Sultan of Steeze, Bode, to get his tips on how to best work your way up to 3’s this spring.
Tip 1 - Master Straight Airs
"Before spinning, be comfortable:
• Carrying steady speed
• Staying centered on your skis
• Popping evenly off both feet
• Landing balanced and in control
If you’re landing backseat, or feeling unstable, fix that first.
Spins exaggerate mistakes."
Tip 2 - Build A Clean 180

"For a strong 180, approach with flat skis (or board), a balanced stance and straight upper body. On takeoff, pop first and then rotate.
The spin should start as you leave the lip, not before. If you throw your shoulders too early, you’ll spin low and off balance.
Think: Pop, then spin."
Tip 3 - Control Your Body In The Air

"In the air, stay tall through your core and keep arms controlled (not flailing)
Your rotation should feel smooth and level. If you’re tipping or corking unintentionally, you likely leaned into the spin on takeoff."
Tip 4 - LAND SWITCH WITH CONFIDENCE

"A solid 180 means landing switch comfortably.
Focus on spotting the landing early, absorbing evenly with both legs and staying centered (not backseat).
Spend time skiing switch outside the park. If switch feels unstable, your 180s will too.
You should consistently ride away clean before moving on."
Tip 5 - GET MORE POP BEFORE TRYING 360s

"Most skiers and boarders under-rotate 360s because they rush the spin.
Before trying 3s take your 180s to slightly bigger jumps and focus on jumping higher, not spinning faster
If you don’t get solid airtime, you won’t have time to finish the rotation.
Think: Up first, then spin."
Tip 6 - Add The Extra Rotation

"For your first 360:
• Approach with confident speed
• Pop tall
• Rotate smoothly
• Stay compact
• Spot your landing around 270°
If you keep landing at 270°, you likely need:
• More pop
• Slightly more speed
• Stronger commitment at takeoff
Don’t try to spin harder mid-air. Rotation is set at takeoff."
Tip 7 - Practice Both Directions

"Even if one direction feels easier, practice both.
Balanced spinning improves control and makes future tricks easier to learn."
